FUEL SCARCITY: A Plague that almost cripple Nigeria Economy is at it again

The whole Nigeria presently is agonized due to shortage of fuel for national distribution which led to fuel scarcity in the country.

THE SIGNS and DISADVANTAGES OF FUEL SCARCITY IN NIGERIA

1. Long Queue at the gas/petrol filling stations

2. Increase in Transport fare

3. Reduction in number of cars moving on Nigeria routes

4. Reduction in Electricity power supply to the citizen

5. increase in price of food stuffs as a result of increase in fuel scarcity

6. Due  to no power supply to illuminate environment, there would be much robbery and attacks

etc

REASONS FOR FUEL SCARCITY IN NIGERIA

1. Importers are accused of withholding petrol because of a payment dispute with the government, which they deny :

Earlier this month, the government approved the payment of $2.1bn (£1.4bn) to the importers, or wholesale fuel sellers, to settle subsidy claims.

However, payment has been delayed because parliament has not yet approved it.

2. Nigeria is Africa's main oil exporter but imports most of its petrol because it lacks the capacity to refine it.

FUEL SUBSIDY AS A SCAM

The fuel subsidy scheme as some Nigerians had seen it since the regime of ex-president as a big scam for the rich to be getting richer and be living large over the poor people's money.

Seeing the activities of the so called marketers in the country, everybody believes there is nothing like subsidy and what has never been in place since the inception of the country can not be so true to an extent that its effects is widely felt in the Nation Nigeria.

In May, the country was brought to a standstill when the importers went on strike following a row over payments with the outgoing government of President Goodluck Jonathan.
